FEP Board Meeting in Bergen, June 2019, report

The Federation of European Professional Photographers’ board convened under its President, Truls Løtvedt, on June 10, 2019 on the President’s home turf in Bergen, Norway. This meeting was precided by the final GA of the FEP ivzw. From April 1, 2019 onwards the FEP works as the FEP vzw (changes were promted by changes in Belgian law).

FEP Young Photographer Award
We will combine the FEP Emerging Talent Award and the Students and Young Photographers category of the annual competition into one competition. This will be known from now on as the FEP Young Photographer Award and it will be open to all Photographers under the age of 30 regardless if they are students, apprentices or even have their own businesses.
We will soon publish the rules of this new competition, the Awards of this competition will be given out in the annual gala.

Event calendar 2020
The judging session of June 2020 will be organised in Poprad Slovakia in the High Tatras’ area. The Belgian member associations will join forces to organise the November judging session exact location on whereabouts in Belgium is still to be determines. The FEP General Assembly and annual Awards ceremony will take place in Rome, Italy on March 22, 2020. The World Photographic Cup will host its awards on the following day, March 23, also in Rome.

New fees
A new way of calculating membership fees was discussed, however no definitive decisions were not made yet. Discussions will resume at the next meeting.
The application fees for the QEP/ MQEP applications will be increased by 20€ starting from the next session. This is the first time in over 10 years that the fees have been increased. Also the difference between the newly introduced early bird / late bird fees will be increased to encourage people for early submissions of the applications.

Mentoring program
The FEP will introduce a mentoring programme, where photographers interested in qualifications can seek mentoring from our Masters. We will collect a list of photographers offering their services for the mentoring and subsequently publish it.
